The beloved story of The Lord of the Rings™ collides with fantastical battles in games of Magic: The Gathering with the upcoming release of The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™. You will venture on your own journey from the Shire, exploring the world of Middle-earth in a whole new way.
The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™ cards are legal in the Commander, Modern, Legacy and Vintage formats starting prerelease Friday, June 16, 2023.
Here at A Muse N Games we’re exploring the world of Middle Earth further with a Magic: The Gathering The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™ League running from June 25 through July 29.
What is a League?
An MTG League is a little different from other organized play formats. Players will receive two The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™ Jumpstart Booster Packs which you can shuffle together to make a ready-to-play 40 card deck. You can leave your deck as it is, or you can cut some cards and streamline your strategy down to a 30 card minimum deck.
Players will receive a League Sheet to track your opponents, wins & losses and date for every League match you play.
All Leage matches must be played in store. Games can be played at any time that we are open, but Sundays from 12-4pm will be designated League play time when you are more likely to find an opponent.
To maintain perfect attendance in the League, you must buy any (non-Jumpstart) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™ booster pack (Draft, Set, or Collector) each week and enroll in one of the weekly events in the Magic Companion App.
Because of the Canada Day long weekend, Week 1 of League will last 2 weeks with Week 2 starting on July 9 instead of July 2. Perfect attendance will similarly not count the week of July 2-8 for pack purchase and Companion App enrollment.
The pack you buy each week is added to your League pool and can be used to update, upgrade or fully change your deck as you see fit.
In addition to your weekly pack, every 3rd match loss in League play, you may purchase another pack to add to your pool.
Prizing
Exact prizing is to be determined, but will be awarded in the following 4 categories:
1. Perfect Attendance (Buy your league pack, and enroll in event link for each week)
2. Most Games Played
3. Best Win Percentage
4. Most Wins
To qualify for prizing, you must turn in your League Sheet by 10pm on Saturday, July 29 2023.
